Joint Public Hearing Information: Hampton Public School

As part of our continuing commitment to be transparent in the budget process, Hampton Public School would like to share information regarding the district's participation in a Joint Public Hearing on Monday, September 21, at 6:05 p.m. at the Hamilton County Courthouse.

This hearing is NOT unexpected for Hampton. Several years ago, as the district looked at long-term budgeting, it was anticipated that Hampton would likely participate in this process approximately every other year. The district has participated in this process before, and our participation this year is consistent with that long-term planning.

Nebraska law requires school districts (as well as villages, cities, and other political subdivisions) to participate in the Joint Public Hearing process when their proposed property tax request increases by more than an allowable growth percentage.

Hampton Public School will use this hearing to provide context for the property tax request, and all are welcome to attend this public meeting.

Hampton continues to be in a strong financial position and our goals remains the same: provide excellent opportunities for our students while being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars. Long-term planning allows us to maintain our programs, staff, facilities, and financial stability without making decisions based only on a single budget year.

We do not want our community to be surprised by the notice or wonder why the school is participating. The Joint Public Hearing was designed to provide taxpayers with information and an opportunity to comment on the proposed property tax request and we welcome that opportunity. Several representatives from the district will be present, including myself and members of the Hampton Board of Education.

Details for the meeting are as follows:

Joint Public Hearing
Monday, September 21, 2026 | 6:05 p.m.
Hamilton County Courthouse, District Court Room, Second Floor
1111 13th Street, Aurora, NE 68818

We appreciate the continued support and involvement of the community of Hampton in the budgeting process.

Tomorrow will be a hot one for our field trip to the state fair! Students can bring a bottle of water and wear a hat and sunglasses, if they wish. Apply sunscreen at home in the morning before coming to school. Don't forget to wear a purple shirt! We will have coolers of water and a snack for our ride back to school. Departure time is 8:30 AM and we'll return to school at approximately 3:10PM

The H&H Bearcats Football Program would like to extend a sincere thank you to Tom Williamsen for his generous donation to help purchase Guardian Caps for our team.

Because of their support, our student-athletes will have an added layer of protection during practice as we continue to prioritize player safety while preparing for the season.

We are incredibly grateful for community members and supporters who believe in our program and invest in the young men who wear the Bearcat uniform. Gifts like this make a real difference and help us provide the best possible experience for our athletes.

Thank you, Tom, for helping us keep our players safer and for being part of the H&H Football family!
