The Hampton Football team has been recognized by the National Football Foundation as the Nebraska Class D6 winners of the 2022-23 NFF National High School Academic Excellence Award. The award goes to the top academic football teams from each level of play within each state.
Eligibility requirements for the NFF National High School Academic Excellence Awards include: a minimum cumulative team GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, superior academic application and performance, and a successful football season.
This season the Hampton Football team earned a cumulative 1st semester GPA of 3.29, with 9 of the 16 team members earning Honor Roll recognition. On the field, the team went 5-4 and qualified for the state playoffs for the first time since 2010.
The team is now one of 60 schools in contention for the NFF Hatchell Cup, presented by "The Original" Bob's Steak & Chop House, which will be announced Feb. 8 and recognizes the top individual high school football team in the nation for excellence in the classroom, on the field and in the community.
