At the start of the school year, I presented to the staff and school board information about security and ways to keep our school network safe. I think it would be good to share some information with all of you as well.

One of the best things we can do to keep ourselves safe online is to create unique passwords for every online account we have. I know this is a big task! Most of us have tens, if not hundreds of accounts, and I’m asking for you to have a different password for every single one! Before you freak out, the way to achieve this is to use a password manager. This is an app and/or website that will keep track of your passwords and will generate secure passwords for you. The benefits of this are quite literally life-changing. You will no longer have to remember more than one password. You will be confident that your accounts are not easily hacked. You will no longer have to think of clever passwords. Best of all, there are several free options, so you don’t have to spend money to achieve this happy state of online security.
